Appropriately titled, this is the darkest of the McGee series, with less humor and no sexual flirtations. Mobsters throw amber-eyed Vangie off a bridge, wired to a block of cement, having adjudged her now a danger to their murderous swindles involving shipboard love nests. Travis and Meyer inspect the nature of these slimy goings-on by running some cons of their own, playing various characters.
