Jerry Forbes' introduction to murder began innocuously enough, with the puzzling behaviour of the exciting girl on the West Key beach who seemed to be interested in big-game fishing, and wasn't. When Jerry worked out what she was up to, he was more puzzled still, for in fact she was interested in one thing - listening very carefully to his voice. Very soon he found himself involved in a much more murderous - and lucrative - sport than fishing. Marian Forsyth's plan was as deadly as it was brilliant. It called only for a few stage props, including a concrete flamingo, and an actor with an infallible memory. From then on, Harris Chapman, prominent Louisiana businessman, didn't stand a chance.
