But she had been a part of Mallory's life since they both wore diapers, and now she was dead and Mal agreed with Sheriff Brennan that it probably wasn't suicide.

In order to find out what did happen, Mal re-enters the world of the flower children, now older, now changed - some of them. And in the course of questioning Ginny's friends Mal discovers something else, something frightening: A very immediate threat which he must take personally.
