After freeing a youth hanging at the gallows on Baron Von Staler's land, Solomon Kane - together with his travelling companion, John Silent - decide to stop overnight at the castle of the Baron, a castle known locally as the Castle of the Devil... Incomplete fragment unpublished during Howard's lifetime. First published in Red Shadows, Donald M. Grant (1968). Also appears in:
