This prequel to The Mouse That Roared describes the founding of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick in 1370, by Roger Fenwick and a band of fifty stout English bowmen and their families seeking refuge from the squabbling aristocracy of feudal Europe. Illustrated by Roland Wing, the original edition by G.P. Putnam's Sons is now an expensive collector's item, typically selling for fifty dollars or more in good condition. There also exists a 1978 reprint in several editions by the Borgo Press, illustrated by Cathy Hill (shown) equally collectible in price- even more so for autographed copies.
