Summary

Atherton, an Englisman in Kigeli, has found himself at the lowest point in his life. Too many wives and children, and not enough work, have made him no better than an errand boy for a wealthy businessman. One night Atherton decides he can take no more, and decides that crime is the only way to escape the dreary, ceaseless existence he seems to be caught in.
