Series: Lois Meade
Part: 3

Summary (From the publisher):

Cathangar Mill is a creepy and remote disused water mill outside Lois's home village of Long Farnden. The Abraham family, who live there, are reclusive, and it is a surprise when Miss Enid Abraham applies for a vacancy on the team of Lois's cleaning business, New Brooms. She gets the job, but gossip continues to surround the family, and it is invariably of the malicious kind. Then, Enid's brother Edward goes missing when wanted by the police for minor offences. There are various sightings of him, but he is a mysterious Houdini figure.

The plot weaves a thread filled with rumours and threatening events, with the police taking a sceptical view of Lois's growing alarm for Edward. When tragedy strikes, the results are too violent and tragic for even Lois to bear...
