A member of Megan O'Malley's fencing group invites her to visit his virtual nation of Latvinia. To check out the historical simulation, Megan recruits some of the other Net Force Explorers. At first, they find the pre-World War I adventure a lot of fun. But a few Explorers, suspicious of the prejudices programmed into the software, research their friend's background and discover his true motivation: to completely abandon his physical body - and become Latvinia's supreme ruler. Now the Net Force Explorers must act fast to save themselves from an eternity of virtual imprisonment in a turn-of-the-century world...
