Summary (From the publisher):

The track up to the field at the top of the hill passes an old stone cottage. Lolly has an unreasoning but terrible fear of the old man who lives there. She knows it is silly, but it overwhelms her. Get to the field she must, for there grazes her beloved Knocker, who needs exercise and practice if Lolly is to do well at the pony show. This is an unusual pony story, which grows out of the conflict in Lolly's mind between her love for Knocker and her fear of old Jacob.
