Paul Benjamin is just like you - if you live in a city. His home is a roomy old apartment on New York's upper West Side. He's lived in the city all his life and doesn't like commuting. He's an accountant, married with one grown-up daughter.

Suddenly the quiet, even routine of Paul's life is shattered beyond repair. Crime crosses his own threshold, leaving his wife dead and his daughter beaten into catatonia.
