(IBList user synopsis):
Narcotics cop Carver has his sights set on Lee Cabiness, a sax player active in the beat scene in San Francisco in the early sixties. Clair Hubler, a rich girl out for kicks, pays Lee to play at her boat party and score some pot. When Carver busts Lee and Clair with the weed, Clair has her lawyer bail him out. Lee, who has just broken up with his girlfriend, Jean, moves in with Clair, mainly because he feels indebted to her. He decides to put a working group together with his friends in an attempt to earn some real money and pay Clair back, but worries it will corrupt his music. On top of that he still has the charges hanging over his head, Jean has started going around with a pimp, and someone is spreading some bad dope around.
