(IBList user synopsis):
While mob boss Tom Fell is away at a psychiatric hospital after a breakdown, San Pietro is going to hell. His lieutenant, Pander, angles to take over, and as part of his scheme he has stopped paying off the cops so they raid all the bookie offices. When Fell leaves the hospital prematurely, he appears to be a changed man, both serene and unpredictable. At first, he makes these traits work for him. Knowing that the bosses in L.A. will choose between him and Pander based on performance, he seemingly ignores Panderís operations while concentrating on his racehorse. But even as his unorthodox tactics appear to be bearing fruit, the reemergence of his manic disorder threatens to destroy him.
