(From the publisher):
Something peculiar is going on at the Group Medical Practice in Taviscombe. Long delays and an increasingly sloppy standard of care have everyone complaining and old Dr MacDonald seems very uneasy. Sheila Malory can't help but feel that it may have something to do with the unexpected arrival from London of a new GP, Dr Morrison, an arrogant, cold-mannered man, whose alleged misdiagnosis of a local patient who later died has made him the focus of the village rumour mill.
When Dr Morrison is suddenly found dead in his office, apparently murdered, evidence points towards Rhys Hampden, the drug-addicted son of a couple from the village and the last person to have seen Dr Morrison alive. However, Sheila Malory is not convinced that Dr Morrison's death was simply the result of a random act of violence. Had Dr Morrison been involved in some dangerous business in London that had caught up with him in Taviscombe? Or did someone local have a motive for wanting him out of the way?
