Summary
(From the publisher):
Peony was truly devoted to David, the handsome son of a rich family that she served. But she was a mere bondmaiden, and she knew the futility of her passion.
Though David's strong-willed mother had already chosen his bride, there was still hope for his happiness -- if only he might marry as his heart commanded. And Peony vowed to see his wish fulfilled, even if it meant banishment from his household, even if it meant disgrace.
