Have you ever heard of synthesthesia? Sounds like a disease, but it's quite the opposite. It's a rare linking of senses -- hearing and sight, say -- so that every time a certain song plays on the radio, you also see little green pyramids dancing in front of your eyes. Hard to describe, really -- and that's the problem LilyRose Sheffield faces when she tries to explain her condition.

People think she's crazy. Or drug-addicted. Or just plain weird. So LilyRose keeps her condition a secret for twelve long years. Then she's arrested for assaulting a customer (who really, really deserves it!), and gets so much help from a law-savvy stranger that she begins to realize that shutting herself off from people might not be the answer to her troubles. But how can she unveil the not-so-dark secret she thinks has nearly ruined her life? Easier said than done.
