The first in a series of adventures for the young reporter Tintin and his dog Snowy. They are sent report on life in the U.S.S.R. where, after overcoming the authorities, they discover the horrors of communism.
First published between January 10, 1929 and May 11, 1930 in Le Petit Vingtième (a childrens supplement of the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle) and in book form in 1930. This was the only early Tintin story not later redrawn by Hergé.
