Series: Blue McCarron
Blue McCarron is a gay, independent, social psychologist living in an abandoned motel in the desert outside San Diego. A former professor, she now makes her living as a retail consultant, and, like everyone else in the area, has heard of the bizarre case of Beatrice "Muffin" Crandell, a 72-year-old widow who has just confessed to having murdered a man and mutilating his corpse several years earlier. Blue is only casually interested in the case until Muffin's brother hires her to find grounds for his sister to retract confession. As Blue delves into crime, she discovers that not only are Muffin's society friends lying to protect the accused murderess, they are also integral players in an international conspiracy - and Blue must unravel a mystery that is much more dangerous than she originally bargained for.
