A few years ago a lovely young woman in her mid-twenties employing the nom de plume of Emmanuelle Arsan wrote a book whih became the most discussed underground novel since "Story of O". Although under stringent French censorship laws the book could not be advertised, Emmanuelle received such favorable word-of-muth pubicity that it went on to become a runaway bestseller, with over half a million copies sold.
