(From the publisher):
There were surprises in the northern English village that Imogen Lacey fled to after the death of her beloved husband. There were people there who cared enough to help her recover. There was a community where she could begin life again, where she could open a shop to sell the glorious hats she designed. After a time she sees that there are men in the village as well--men she interests, and men who interest her.
And there are other forces whose influence charges the landscape--among them an ancient stone circle on nearby Haraldstone Hill, the center of age-old myths and mystery. However, when her neighbors begin to notice that a certain group of women had befriended her--strong, soulful, independent women, who take joy in each other's company and celebrate their natural powers together--suspicions are raised: Will Imogen join the witches? Imogen falls in love; strange and sinister events transpire that are dire enough to rouse the interest of the national press; her business and her very life are threatened. Yet, in the end, Imogen Lacey knows it wasn't this group of women who endangered her. It was they who saved her.
