Summary (From the publisher):

Pinkerton agent Adam Blake has been pulled out of an assignment in New Mexico by Mr Allan Pinkerton himself and sent north to the Montana Canadian border country to try and track down three US army cannons, stolen by Smiling Jack Brunskill and his gang of bank robbers and horse thieves. The guns were to be used by Monsieur Louis Riel, a French-Canadian in his war against the Ottawa government.

Adam and Smiling Jack first meet up in Fort Whoop-up, an American gun-running and illicit whiskey post on Canadian territory. With the help of Sergeant Keegan, a mountie, and two Cree Indians, Adam aims to destroy the fort and the Brunskill gang. But it will take a final eyeball to eyeball confrontation in Wolf Creek, Montana, before he wipes the smile off Smiling Jack's face for good.
