Orient Express was Graham Greene`s third novel, but it was his first truly successful one. Though he classed this novel as one of his "entertainments" (as opposed to his more serious fiction), Orient Express is a probing look at the themes that would obsess Greene all his life: sex vs. morality, suicide, issues of loyalty and betrayal, and the lure of the exotic.
