Series: Edge Meets Adam Steele
(From the publisher):
Once before they'd met. Now again, fittingly since they were both travelling men by need and nature, at the rail depot.
Stormville, Colorado. A certain hustle and bustle. The train of the day waited, steam drifting across the platform as the locomotive hissed impatiently. Passengers clambered down from the half-dozen cars. Journey's end for some. Just a breather and breakfast for others.
Among them, Edge. Travelling through to Denver to claim his bounty on the man he had with him. Well, near at hand. In the caboose, in a coffin. Freight rates. Cheaper that way.
Edge, spotting the figures half-hidden, who were there to kill him but were a fraction too slow and too wild with their guns. Acrid gunsmoke mingled with the steam, cleared to show two gunslingers dead, one dying, one plump Frenchman dead by accident and a pretty blonde girl in white screaming hysterically as the blood ran down her face.
And Adam Steele walked out of the shadows to identify Edge to the deputy sheriff.
