Six years ago, apprentice nurse Jan Fielding was wildly in love with Chris Garrett, the newly qualified doctor, until Chris was caught in a mountain accident involving her father. The results changed her life forever.

Now Jan is a community nurse — and Chris is back. He's older, leaner and even more attractive. They have to work together in the GP practice and on a mountain-rescue team in the Lake District, and the feelings Jan thought were gone, somehow begin to surface once more.
