Dan Turner is one of the judges at a beauty contest organized by movie mogul Ben Berkin, where the winning girl, Wanda Wynne, is murdered by a knife in the chest. The obvious suspect is a fellow contestant, but when Turner learns that Wanda was married, and that her husband was a circus knife-thrower by profession, and who knew that Wanda was Ben's mistress - the case gets really complicated...
