(From the publisher):
Young Ellis Stack and his father are convicted for cattle rustling. Jed Blake, the man who the town of Blakesville was named after, wanted the Stack land and when he could not get it by fair means he framed the Stacks.
Ellis is saved from the gallows, but is sentenced to five years in the state prison. He suffers five years of living hell in the prison and on his release he vows to take revenge on Jed Blake.
Realising that direct action is neither practicable nor desirable, he tries to get at Blake through his son, an idle, fat layabout whose one aim in life seems to be making a killing at cards. Easy meat..?
