(From the publisher):
Michael the Moose is the star of his high school football team – a big-time, big-play guy. Unfortunately his new coach wants him to be bigger, stronger and faster, and the way to get there involves the use of steroids. Michael knows it’s illegal, but his coach tells him ‘everybody does it’ and this is his way of leveling the playing field. He doesn’t feel good about it, but he doesn’t see any choice. He can’t let down his coach or his teammates – people are counting on him. Michael soon learns about the results of steroid use – some of which aren’t what he had hoped for.
“What happens between you and me stays here. It’s nobody’s business but ours.”
“But isn’t using steroids sort of like cheating?” I asked.
“It would be if you were the only one doing it. Half the kids across from you, trying to block you, are on the juice. We’re just trying to give you what you need to even up the score.”
