Skye Fargo stands to make himself a heap of cash working for a powerful millionaire. Trouble is, the mogul wants to make Fargo dead - after he gets what he paid for.

Jace Carver provides a "service" to homesteaders along the Platte River by supplying them with guns and ammunition to hold off an aggressive group of Pawnee. But the goods are overpriced, and the Indians are underpaid - by Carver - to harass the settlers. Soon enough, the natives are getting restless - they want better payment. Carver figures to double-cross Fargo by getting him to lead a group out to the settlements and then use him as a pawn to teach the Pawnee a lesson.
