Skell - is neither a friend nor a foe - and can be trusted by none.

Cornelia - The Emperor's woman is his ambassador, his spy, and a seductress.

Taliesan - The Lord High Druid, Master of Druids; on his decision rests the fate of Tros, Caswallon, Fflur - and all they stand for.

...and a weird Caesar - arch-enemy of freedom, cruel and mighty ruler of much of the world, who once again forces a showdown with Tros.
