Summary (From the publisher):

From the publisher
Scott Faraday, fresh from the adventure in The Voyage of the Heartworm, now takes up a variation of ultra-light aircraft, which he designs and builds. He then leaps from the top of Trappers Peak in the Bitterroot Selway Wilderness of Montana and because of wind currents, is blown into the wilderness. He crashes in the wilderness, spending the first winter in what he learns is a tomb.

He is attacked by bears, pushed over waterfalls, finds gold at the end of the rainbow, and is befriended by a small hairy creature, which he learns is a 'Sasquatch' or 'Big Foot'. He spends one summer with the tribe, being doctored back to health from a bear attack, learning from them about survival and their lifestyle. He decides that he can teach them nothing, because it might endanger their very existence. Whatever he does, their existence must be his private secret, for their protection.

He uncovers an ancient carved cavern, with an inhabitant over three thousand years old. Scott learns of the origin of the ‘Big Foot’ people and gets to journey through time to the ‘Great War’, fought over two millennia ago on earth. Scott suffers a broken arm, broken leg, bear mauling, elk attack, being buried by a cougar, flash floods and learns to survive, as no man has survived before.

Scott survives on sheer willpower, determination and creativity. It takes two years but Scott makes his way home to a waiting family.
