Series: Herne the Hunter
Part: 16

Summary (From the publisher):

Herne looked around... Killing the Mexicans had been easy. But the taste of death sometimes lay flat on his tongue. It would be good to scout for a couple of weeks. Not that he honestly believed they’d have a lot of chance of catching up with Geronimo. It had been years since Herne had met the stocky Chiricahua leader, under circumstances that were, even now, painful to recall. He wondered whether the Apache would remember the tall white man who had... but that was in another place and at another time. And the woman was dead.

Herne had made a deal with journalist Thaddeus Ray to help him get some pictures of Geronimo, the famous Apache chief, for his paper. It would have been a well-paid and easy scouting job if the US Cavalry hadn’t been searching for the Apache too. But when Thaddeus and his brother Isaac were captured and brutally tortured by the vicious Mexican dwarf, Jesus Maria Garcia, Herne, left alone with Carola, Thaddeus’ wife, knew he was going to have to try and rescue both the brothers – against lethal odds...
