In this long-awaited addition to the Gil and Claire Hunt series, we finally learn the story of how our favourite amateur sleuth couple hooked up and fell in love - ironically, while trying to solve a murder at a mystery writers' convention.

The story flashes back seven years to Bouchercon, which Gil attends as a book dealer. There, he meets an avid reader named Claire and is immediately smitten. When the convention's star attraction, prominent hard-boiled writer Robin Westerly, is found dead in his hotel room with a bullet in the head, Gil and Claire find themselves in a desperate hunt for a clever killer who may be just as skilled at constructing the perfect murder in real life as in crime novels!

With two charming sleuths and a wonderful supporting cast of characters, Randisi and Matthews delight us once again with another clever and well-crafted mystery.
