This is a coming of age novel set during the late 1960s and early 1970s on the campus of Punahou School, a prestigious private institution in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The young man who narrates the story must cope with typical problems of growing up -- dating; his father's high expectations; a school bully. At the same time, he must navigate the dangerous, tricky waters of racial tension.
