Summary
(From the publisher):
Here are twenty-one tales, most of them written especially for this book. The stories were chosen with one thought in mind -- to make the reader uneasy -- not terrified, not stricken with horror -- just uneasy. In three stories, houses prove deadly enemies; in two, mirrors behave most peculiarly. In a few, the supernatural creeps in -- but no chain-clanking ghosts. There is black humor, savage irony, matter-of-fact horror lurking in familiar objects. There's even a bit of useful advice: never read tomorrow's newspaper -- you may find a notice of your own death. To which we add: Caution -- more than two or three of these tales at one sitting can be hazardous to your nerves.
