Fleeing in the desert Conan is captured by the warriors of the city Tombalku, but on recognizing one of the dual kings as a former comrade is freed. They rescue another former comrade called Amalric and all are enmeshed in the in-fighting of the various factions of Tombalku.

Fragment and draft of Howard's left in his papers, completed by L. Sprague de Camp in 1966.
