Munthassem Khan of Yaralet, possessor of 'The Hand of Nergal', ancient sorcerous talisman, uses its power to destroy the army of King Yildiz with shadow entities. Conan is one of only two survivors, the other being a girl ordered to find him by Atalis, a rival to Khan, as Conan is the key to defeating Munthassem Khan with a counter talisman he unknowingly possesses.
Unfinished fragment in Howard's papers expanded upon and finished by Lin Carter.
