Summary

In exchange for his release from prison on a murder charge by scheming aristocrat Murilo, Conan agrees to kill his enemy Nabonidus, the Red Priest and de facto ruler of the city. In the pits underneath the priest's house they find Nabonidus unconscious. Can Conan, Murilo and Nabonidus collaborate long enough to escape past the priest's mutinous servant, the massive ape-like Thak?
