After his untimely death, Nick Riley was still a probationer desperate to get out of the bottom ranks of the Heavenly Hosts. After expressing regret about how he had treated his wife, Nick's next assignment was clear.
Even if he wasn't too happy about the mortal body he had to wear during the mission.
Not that he'd have minded it while he was alive. While he was a man!
