Summary
:
Charles d'Orleans, as young as he is, takes the places of his murdered father, and enters the stage of France during the 100 years war with England.
However, unlike his father and his brother, he is not able to deal with all political intrigues, and he prefers to write poetry instead to deal with his loneliness.
Banned to England for many years, his life is not only sadness. There are moments of hope, of love.
At the end of his life he finally is no longer 'a lonely island' anymore. Credit for his last wife who makes sure that he no longer suffers from his introvert nature.
