An exploration of how myths are created, told in the form of a poem/narrative.
Written in 1929, "Mythopoeia" was Tolkien's response to an argument with C.S. Lewis about the value of myth. It has many similarities with his essay "On Fairy Stories" and the companion story "Leaf by Niggle", and was published with them in the second edition of Tree and Leaf
