Although the pieces collected in this volume were originally published in Spanish, this Collected Fictions was published only in English, as part of the Viking Centennial Editions of Borges published between 1998 and 2000, which also included Selected Poems and Selected Non-Fictions. These translations by Andrew Hurley have been both praised and damned; aficionados of Borges must make up their own minds.
