It's the winter of 1780, and that means that Hannah has plenty of work to do. Her family has been living in a one-room shed since the British burned down their house. When news comes that Hannah's beloved brother Ben, a soldier, has been captured by the British, Hannah tries to keep busy making candles and helping rebuild their home. But she can't help worrying about Ben, until suddenly a stranger arrives bringing unexpected news.
