Charlie "Bird" Parker is a tormented former cop who is tortured by the unsolved deaths of his wife and daughter. Haunted by visions of the dead, he trails the killer known as the "Traveling Man" from New York to the American South. Yet, Charlie Parker is by no means a detective in the classical sense. His violence and rage crosses him into that dark edge where only the people he chases are supposed to live.
