A small chapbook of poems, written as part of his greater story, The Poetics of Rita Kleinhart.
Being a hornbook, the poems are relatively short, and to the point, though they do vary in length.
From his introduction:
"The poet Rita Kleinhart grew up in the same place as did I, but did not travel extensively, then disappeared while inside an art installation ("Twilight Arch") in the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt. Her series of ninety-nine hornbooks is being prepared for definitive publication by the archivist Raymond, who has moved into her ranch house overlooking the Battle River in central Alberta, and who is persuaded that she and he were sometime lovers."
See 2001's The Hornbooks of Rita K.
for the definitive collection as put together by Raymond!
