(From the publisher):
Mr. Popper is a house painter, but has always wanted to see more of the world. Especially the Antarctic regions. In all of his spare time he reads about polar exploration. When Admiral Drake sends him a penguin, in response to his fan letter, life at 432 Proudfoot Avenue is never the same. The Popper family grows to 12 penguins, and the "Popper Performing Penguins, First Time on Any Stage, Direct from the South Pole" touring act and antics is born.
