The Abbey of Redwall is a peaceful place in the wilderness of Mossflower, a haven for the woodland creatures that abound in the area. Matthias the mouse is just an ordinary novice in the order of Redwall, until one day when Cluny the Scourge, one of the meanest bilgerats around, lays siege to the establishment with his army of vermin. It is up to Matthias, who takes up the sword of the order's fabled champion Martin, to defend Redwall and its peaceful inhabitants from the invaders.
