Summary (From the publisher):

Two hundred years after the birth of the Brothers Grimm, we have the first anthology of English poetry based on their fairy tales. Seventy-eight contemporary writers have transformed those fairy tales for a modern technological age. Differing in content and quality, the poems let the reader experience a variety of reinterpretations - tales of political satire, environment, social criticism, love, sex, criminality, Freudian psychology, nonsense, parody. Some poems are humorous, but more often they offer serious, deeper interpretations of the traditional tales. The imperfect world of reality is placed into striking juxtaposition with the perfect fairy tale world, and although many poems strike a pessimistic note, others long for a return to happiness in a better world.
