James Robert Baker's novels have always defied easy description. His vision of a darkly comic landscape populated by righteously raging homos exacting gruesomely deserved revenge on right-wing bigots has simultaneously delighted and infuriated literati. In this final work, uncompleted at the time of his death but edited to completion under the supervision of his estate, Baker's vision goes supremely sublime. A logic-defying, hysterical plot, encompassing the exploding breasts of a surgically enhanced TV star, Eva Braun's diet pills, a forged O.J. Simpson murder tape, microwaved heads, a shoot-out in Hitler's underground bunker, a cult of fundamentalist tech heads, an old lady hurling herself off a mountaintop, and a profanity-obsessed Russian mafia hit man, leads all the way over the top when a vision of Catherine Deneuve encourages James to take out the big man...God.
