Young Stefan is the son of Holocaust survivors who are determined to shield him from that horror. Denying their own heritage and past, they leave a void in their son's life and remain emotionally distant. Stefan himself learns to keep secrets, especially after he begins to realize he is gay. But in Stefan's determination to uncover the past, this becomes a story of self-discovery and acceptance.
