(From the publisher):
The island of Rockall is a bare peak rearing out of the Atlantic, inhabited only by seabirds. Or so the world believes. And that is why, when two children who climbed ashore to explore the rock fail to return and only a red hat is found bobbing forlornly on the water, their parents assume them drowned and sail sadly home.
But the children, Nicky and Judy, are actually prisoners inside a granite fortress where a sinister beings known as "The Master" is weaving his appalling plans to rule the world. He is able to subjugate the men who work for him by controlling their minds, and Judy too falls under his spell. Only Nicky is able to resist but is still powerless to escape or prevent the destruction because his sister is obliged to betray him every time he seems about to succeed. In the end it is Jokey, their mongrel bitch, who alters the destiny of the world.
