Summary :

A chance forest fire burnt down the huts of the Mohicans, a little band of elderly squatters near the Riviera town of Port-Biou. Monsieur Amoretti, the Town Clerk, was delighted; now he could take over the site of the Mohicans' settlement for development - unless, he added, the old people could raise enough money in just over a month to replace their shacks with respectable modern bungalows. And he was quite sure they could never afford to do that. But Monsieur Amoretti had not reckoned with Charloun's gang - eleven local children who set out to raise the money that was needed for the bungalows.
